HV Module Success

Our philosophy here at MBA Engineering is to deliver highly effective cost saving engineering. Keen to go the extra mile for our customers, we get a huge buzz when we fix a fault at component or board level. This attitude allows us to save our customers thousands a year, its win win.

Early this year a Bystronic user called us to ask whether we repaired HV Modules with the solid state series found on Bystronic lasers. Our open and honest upfront approach meant our client could proceed on the basis we’d try our upmost to find a resolution. After running diagnosis and in depth examinations we were pleased to return the machine back to working condition without the need for a new HV module, saving our customer just shy of £10,000.

Byspeed Z Axis Modification

MBA Engineering are pleased to offer all Bystronic Byspeed users a cheaper solution to the Z axis lubrication modification. The modification involves piping lubrication to the spindle to increase its service life. We offer a solution for your machine that won’t break the bank. So if you have a Bystronic Byspeed and it doesn’t have the lubrication modification already fitted, get in touch ASAP in order to prolong the lifespan of your existing spindle, all at a fraction of the price you would pay the OEM.

MBA Engineering strive to deliver un-rivalled levels of service support to its customers. This comes in a variety of forms; Telephone Support, Engineer response, support and part diagnosis/delivery.

We are the first to notice that Bystronic Laser users need all of the above. Excellent telephone support enables the machine to be placed back into production where possible or to narrow down the prognosis for a quicker repair. If a problem requires an engineers intervention, then a response time same day couriers would be proud of always takes the pressure off the customer. Once on site engineering knowledge to recognise the problem, find the most economically viable off the shelf solution and implement it in the quickest time is also critical.

Well here at MBA Engineering this is what we do best.

Beat the Chill

With winter looming, it won’t be long before temperatures plummet. As always MBA Engineering are keen to draw laser users attention to the harsh facts when it comes to freezing temperatures and expensive resonators.

As you may already be aware, in order for your laser to work an effective cooling system is fitted to your machine. As you have guessed the cooling system generally contains de ionised water, during these cold overnight spells Mr Frost does his damage.

At MBA Engineering we realise that it's not always practical to keep the factory at the stated guidelines supplied by OEM’s (above 12 degrees) so we have developed a heater system which sits nicely in areas that need to be kept at an optimal temperature. This allows you to go through any harsh cold spells with the comfort of knowing your resonator is being kept warm, thus preventing any freezing and expensive damage. This solution proves much more cost effective than heating the whole workshop.

Our heater kits are regulated by a thermostat, this ensures the temperature is maintained within the correct range and saves energy by only running when needed. Peace of mind for you the customer.

MBA Engineering pride themselves on delivering an excellent quality service. Following each and every interaction with a customer an invitation is sent requesting their feedback on the service they received. Questions cover all aspects of the experience when dealing with MBA Engineering and based upon a scale of 1-9 (1 being totally dissatisfied, 9 being totally satisfied, the results can be seen below:

1. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied with the response time from initial phone call to an engineer arriving on site.

2. 75% of Customers were totally satisfied with the time of day an engineer arrived on site, 25% were mostly satisfied.

3. 100% of Customers said our engineers were polite and courteous.

4. 100% of Customers said our engineers were clean and smart on arrival

5. 84% of Customers were totally satisfied with the technical knowledge of our engineers, leaving 16% mostly satisfied.

6. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied with the outcome of the engineers visit.

7. 75% of Customers were totally satisfied with the organisation and tidiness of the engineer whilst on site, leaving 25% mostly satisfied.

8. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied with the engineers considerations to health and safety whilst on site.

9. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied that the numbers of visits required to complete their work met their expectations.

10. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied with the communication between the office and themselves.

11. 100% of Customers were totally satisfied with the overall service experience in relation to an engineers visit.

Advance Operator Training

March saw MBA Engineering delivering an advanced operator training course to a client. The aim of the course is to:

Have a better understanding of how to set the machine for the production of accurate, good quality, and reliable parts
Understand the health and safety aspects of using the machine.
Increase the knowledge of optimising parameters for better speed and higher quality cut
Improved understanding of the standard parameters.

We tweaked the course delivery slightly to maximise the customers benefit, although all the above points were covered in great depth. The participants gained a lot of insight into which parameters to adjust, and when.
Although not always evident, most operators ‘teach themselves’ over time, finding parameters which help optimise the cut. Quite often though, this can impact negatively on the speed of production parts in order to maintain the quality.
Following the completion of this course, there should be evidence that part quality has improved, and if required an increased feed-rate for cutting can be obtained. At this point we would like to point out that it doesn’t suit everyone to speed up production.

Resonator Refurbishment

One of the services we provide to our customers is resonator refurbishments. The process includes stripping the upper section of the resonator, replacing various components, including plasma tubes and internal optics to name a few. Turbine replacements are recommended dependant upon hours run since the last change. Below you can see some pictures from the strip down and rebuild we carried out this month.

Maintenance Training

Foster Refrigerator are the UK market leader of a wide range of award winning commercial refrigeration equipment and systems for the foodservice, bakery and retail industries.

Life for the refrigerator’s starts out in the production section of the factory. Equipment within this area includes a Bystronic Byspeed. With production efficiency at its highest, it is crucial that the machinery is maintained to the highest level.

MBA Engineering were tasked with delivering a customised maintenance training package which covered a variety of important areas. The engineers involved learnt how to maintain the machine themselves.

The aim was to pass on key pieces of information to allow the maintenance team to ensure the machine is maintained to the highest level and to overcome some basic problems that maybe encountered during day to day running.

Feedback from Dave and Paul was extremely encouraging, we hope that we can pass these skills onto other companies in the future.

Byspeed 4020 Move

August saw MBA Engineering venture into the South of England as one of our clients invested in a Bystronic Byspeed 4020. With a fairly tight timescale to work to, MBA set about de-commissioning the 4m x 2m machine. Expert machine movers J Exley's, assisted MBA Engineering with the removal of the Byspeed allowing us to move the machine in less than two days. Andy commented on Exley's professionalism, 'You can always rely on Exley's to carry out work in a safe and timely manner with equipment that is industry leading.
